NDMC or New Delhi Municipal council is now all set to launch New Delhi Wi-Fi zone plan. This plan was proposed a long ago and in budget presentation this year Jalaj Srivastava, NDMC chairperson stated that they will not only start the project soon but by the end on the year they will declare the Delhi as India’s first Wi-Fi enabled city.\r\n\r\nVodafone India is appointed by NDMC to set up Wi-Fi services in whole city is phased manner. In the first phase Khan Market will be provided this facility after that Connaught place and other will be served.\r\n
According to a Financial Express report, when asked on the development, NDMC Project Director OP Mishra said, “We have roped in Vodafone India for the Wi-Fi services and they have already started working on the project”. He added the Wi-Fi facilities will be available in Khan market within next 15 days.
\r\nNDMC said that the whole project is PPP based and they will not handle it to any private company to look after. NDMC will be the sole care taker of the project. Earlier in Dec, 2013 this project was silently started and given a chance with launch in some areas. Below given is the screenshot of Advertisement given by NDMC on 24/12/2013.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nThough NDMC is calming that New delhi will be first Wi-Fi zone of India but it is to be noted that Gujarat government did this same work in Ahmedabad in Feb 2014 end. That project was carried out with the help of Reliance Jio and at present actively giving services. To see details of that project click here.\r\n\r\nNo one is yet ready to speak on the speed of the Wi-Fi which will be provided by NDMC but PlanDekho exclusively got a report which shows that speed will be near about 5 Mbps. We have enclosed the image which have special condition placed by NDMC.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nEven though speed of 5 Mbps is not slow but as compared to Wi-Fi services of Ahmedabad it is very slow. AMC’s Wi-Fi is giving speed of 40 Mbps. And also AMC (Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation) is providing free access to that Wi-Fi service for 90 days. On the other hand NDMC will provide free access to its users for first 15 minutes.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nIf you have any queries and suggestion then comment it below or mail us at [email protected]
