Loop mobile is the oldest mobile service operator in Mumbai. Formerly known as BPL, this Telecom service provider is still limited to Mumbai telecom circle. On 18 Feb 2014, India’s leading telecom giant Airtel announced its acquisition over loop mobile. A deal of 700 cr was signed for all its networking sites and customers.
Airtel was supposed to merge all the existing loop mobile customers on their networks before November but DoT made created a big hurdle in between. In a matter of MNP revenue DoT declared this deal as inappropriate. After which Airtel refused to pay 700 cr to Loop mobile till they get clear permission from DoT. But Airtel made no effort in this matter and Loop mobile was solely trying to solve the things.
In November itself license of Loop mobile will get expire which means if no one merge all the loop customers with them all the loop mobile customers will be permanently discontinued.
Last Day Vodafone stopped all the SMS and incoming calls from Loop mobile saying that Loop has not cleared their dues and similar action Idea cellular took on incoming SMS from loop mobile.
So what should loop customer do now!!
Port Out. Yes, each and every loop customer should port out their number and should join any other telecom operator as soon as possible. November is here are loop mobile is having nearly 28 lac customers. There is high risk that government soon discontinue loop services and all the customer will lose their number and will have no option to get them back. So the best option is to use Mobile number portability (MNP) and port out and join other operator.
Vodafone is the leading Telecom service provider (TSP) in Mumbai circle and reportedly managed to attract 43% of MNP users from January 2014 as per the latest MNP reports. Apart form Vodafone, Airtel and Idea Cellular are other leading telecom giants in Mumbai as well as in the country. Select a good company and pot into it as soon as possible.
Remember a porting request takes 6-7 business days to get completed, so you should port your number in this week itself.
This article is written in the Interest of Loop mobile customers, we don’t encourage one to opt to a particular TSP. At last it’s all your choice to decide what will be the best step for you. Thanks for reading.
