Will the mobile Internet speed increase now?

Recently TRAI asked all the telecom service provider of India to ensure some points related to their Internet speed. Now telecom companies will have to provide the details of the minimum speed which users will receive after recharging with a Data pack. Not only this the companies will have to make sure that they are delivering that minimum speed for at-least 80% of the time. A major question after this decision comes to mind, Will the Mobile Internet speed increase now?\r\n\r\nThis step of TRAI is welcomed here. Till now the companies were playing fair tricks with the Indian customers. Companies like Tata Docomo were saying that they deliver the internet speed of 21 Mbps. While some were saying they deliver 14.2 Mbps and all were at least promising the speed of 7.2 Mbps. This was the scenario for both Mobile Internet and Data Card internet. I bet no one ever got the speed of 21 Mbps on their mobile or Data card in India (except 4G which is just used by a few thousand in India).\r\n\r\nMTS which is one of the leading telecom provider in Data card market promise the speed of 9.2 Mbps with their data card. I tested myself and got 10% of the actual speed, when made a complaint to them they said you are getting the speed of 1 Mbps and that’s okay. So what a common man do now? Sit back and throw out your frustration somewhere else.\r\n\r\nThough TRAI made a great move, now companies will set a minimum speed and will give it for 80% of the time but who will track that 80% uptime or that 20% downtime?  Moreover it  would be great if TRAI would have also made any comment on the minimum speed limit like they did for wireline broadband a few days back (TRAI made 512 Kbps as the minimum speed for Wireline Broadband).\r\n\r\nAnd talking about the Downtime, according to my experience BSNL is the ISP with the highest time of downtime with their mobile Internet. They are down for 80% of the time. They also have call drops problem over their 3G network.\r\n\r\nMoreover companies can still play fair tricks. 70% of us do not know the difference between kBps and kbps or the difference between MBps and Mbps. Companies take it as a plus point the always show their speed in Mbps and kbps.  Let me tell you the difference, the Capital ‘B’ stands for Byte and the small ‘b’ stands for bit. There are 8 bits in one byte (1 Byte = 8 bits), which mean a speed of 8 Mbps is actually a speed of 1 MBps. Lets get more clear,  A song is usually of 5 MB (5 MegaByte) which we can download with 20-25 kBps speed of a 2G connection in 3-4 minutes. That 25 kBps speed actually mean 200 kbps for the companies. In the same way the 7.2 Mbps speed is actually less than 1 MBps.\r\n\r\nUsers need to be aware on such fair tricks. But today our post will be limited to mobile telecom services of India. Altogether there are 12 fully active mobile service provider and many Boradband ISPs across India. There are more than 867 Million active customer of Wireless telecom service in India. Bharti Airtel is the leading telecom company with customer base of more than 188 Million.\r\n\r\nAirtel is though noted as best customer satisfaction providing company but list of complains raised be Airtel customer is also more than 1000 in a single day. Condition is similar with all the telecom companies in India including the only state owned telecom company BSNL. Below here we will discuss the problems of Telecom Consumers and the way to get their solutions from the telecom companies.\r\n

Major and Minor Problems to customers of all telecom companies in India

\r\nWrong Balance Deductions\r\n\r\nOne of the major problem discussed by customers of all the mobile companies in India. Wrong balance deductions are done in many forms like by cutting extra charge of your call. Sometimes customer complains the deductions of their main balance or Data without even use of the Internet.\r\n\r\nUnwanted VAS activation\r\n\r\nThis problem is faced by almost all the customers. Telecom companies activate services and offers on customer mobile number without any request by the customer. Mainly these services are of no use like SMS alerts of Sport news, health tips etc. Condition is even worse for the customers when the number is switched off and the balance is deducted from the same.\r\n\r\nWrong Recharge Amount\r\n\r\nThis field is improved much but still cursed a lot since it wipes away a big amount. Many times companies change the recharge tariffs without any prior notice to the customers and when the customer recharge with previous amount he gets nothing and loose the money also.\r\n\r\nWith clever tricks\r\n\r\nCompanies play many clever tricks. many times they fool customer and the customer is not even aware of it. One of the technique is STV activation through SMS or USSD. A STV amount displayed by company always include the VATs over it. When we made a top-Up we are charged the VAT also. But with the Top-up amount when we activate an STV we are again asked to pay amount with VAT. Hence custome have to pay tax Twice. But company pay it only once to government.  BSNL customers are lucky as they are not fooled like this.\r\n\r\nThere are many more tricks through which a customer get financial loss and hence lead ti mental and physical loss. Below are the few tricks which one should take if cheated any how.\r\n

Solutions one can look upon

\r\nFile a compliant \r\n\r\nAll the companies are giving toll free numbers to register a complaint. Ask customer care to solve the issue by explaining it the complete issue polity. If possible record the call.\r\n\r\nIn most of the cases your issue get solved, If not proceed to next step.\r\n\r\nAwake them on Twitter and Facebook\r\n\r\nIf your issue in not solved or you want other customer to know them your issue, post or tweet your issue to the company’s FB or Twitter handle. Your voice will be surely listened.\r\n\r\nStill in Problem? Proceed to further step.\r\n\r\nTake your issue to nearest Customer outlet\r\n\r\nIf your issue is not solved go to the nearest customer outlet of your telecom provider and tell them to solve the issue or you will take a legal action.\r\n\r\nNot satisfied yet!?! Dive in to next step.\r\n\r\nKnock the door of Consumer Redressal Commission\r\n\r\nIndian constitution is respectable. Constitution provide rights to customer to legally fight against frauds and unfair practices. Visit nearest Consumer court and file your complaint with all your docs. and evidences. This process is really easy and good. You will get proper justice.\r\n\r\nNot only India, the problem of cheats with consumer is existing every where. This is the reason why theme of this World Consumer Rights Day is “Fix our Phone” or “Fair Mobile Service” .
