Steps a Loop mobile customer should take NOW

Loop mobile is the oldest mobile service operator in Mumbai. Formerly known as BPL, this Telecom service provider is still limited to Mumbai telecom circle. On 18 Feb 2014, India’s leading telecom giant Airtel announced its acquisition over loop mobile. A deal of 700 cr was signed for all its networking sites and customers.\r\n\r\nloop mobile merged with Airtel\r\n\r\nAirtel was supposed to merge all the existing loop mobile customers on their networks before November but DoT made created a big hurdle in between. In a matter of MNP revenue DoT  declared this deal as inappropriate. After which Airtel refused to pay 700 cr to Loop mobile till they get clear permission from DoT. But Airtel made no effort in this matter and Loop mobile was solely trying to solve the things.\r\n\r\nIn November itself license of Loop mobile will get expire which means if no one merge all the loop customers with them all the loop mobile customers will be permanently discontinued.\r\n\r\nLast Day Vodafone stopped all the SMS and incoming calls from Loop mobile saying that Loop has not cleared their dues and similar action Idea cellular took on incoming SMS from loop mobile.\r\n

So what should loop customer do now!!

\r\nPort Out. Yes, each and every loop customer should port out their number and should join any other telecom operator as soon as possible. November is here are loop mobile is having nearly 28 lac customers. There is high risk that government soon discontinue loop services and all the customer will lose their number and will have no option to get them back. So the best option is to use Mobile number portability (MNP) and port out and join other operator.\r\n\r\nVodafone is the leading Telecom service provider (TSP) in Mumbai circle and reportedly managed to attract 43% of MNP users from January 2014 as per the latest MNP reports. Apart form Vodafone, Airtel and Idea Cellular are other leading telecom giants in Mumbai as well as in the country. Select a good company and pot into it as soon as possible.\r\n\r\nRemember a porting request takes 6-7 business days to get completed, so you should port your number in this week itself.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nThis article is written in the Interest of Loop mobile customers, we don’t encourage one to opt to a particular TSP. At last it’s all your choice to decide what will be the best step for you. Thanks for reading.\r\n\r\nIf you have any queries, mail us at [email protected] or comment it below.

Will the mobile Internet speed increase now?

Recently TRAI asked all the telecom service provider of India to ensure some points related to their Internet speed. Now telecom companies will have to provide the details of the minimum speed which users will receive after recharging with a Data pack. Not only this the companies will have to make sure that they are delivering that minimum speed for at-least 80% of the time. A major question after this decision comes to mind, Will the Mobile Internet speed increase now?\r\n\r\nThis step of TRAI is welcomed here. Till now the companies were playing fair tricks with the Indian customers. Companies like Tata Docomo were saying that they deliver the internet speed of 21 Mbps. While some were saying they deliver 14.2 Mbps and all were at least promising the speed of 7.2 Mbps. This was the scenario for both Mobile Internet and Data Card internet. I bet no one ever got the speed of 21 Mbps on their mobile or Data card in India (except 4G which is just used by a few thousand in India).\r\n\r\nMTS which is one of the leading telecom provider in Data card market promise the speed of 9.2 Mbps with their data card. I tested myself and got 10% of the actual speed, when made a complaint to them they said you are getting the speed of 1 Mbps and that’s okay. So what a common man do now? Sit back and throw out your frustration somewhere else.\r\n\r\nThough TRAI made a great move, now companies will set a minimum speed and will give it for 80% of the time but who will track that 80% uptime or that 20% downtime?  Moreover it  would be great if TRAI would have also made any comment on the minimum speed limit like they did for wireline broadband a few days back (TRAI made 512 Kbps as the minimum speed for Wireline Broadband).\r\n\r\nAnd talking about the Downtime, according to my experience BSNL is the ISP with the highest time of downtime with their mobile Internet. They are down for 80% of the time. They also have call drops problem over their 3G network.\r\n\r\nMoreover companies can still play fair tricks. 70% of us do not know the difference between kBps and kbps or the difference between MBps and Mbps. Companies take it as a plus point the always show their speed in Mbps and kbps.  Let me tell you the difference, the Capital ‘B’ stands for Byte and the small ‘b’ stands for bit. There are 8 bits in one byte (1 Byte = 8 bits), which mean a speed of 8 Mbps is actually a speed of 1 MBps. Lets get more clear,  A song is usually of 5 MB (5 MegaByte) which we can download with 20-25 kBps speed of a 2G connection in 3-4 minutes. That 25 kBps speed actually mean 200 kbps for the companies. In the same way the 7.2 Mbps speed is actually less than 1 MBps.\r\n\r\nUsers need to be aware on such fair tricks. TRAI may take more steps for better internet but until consumer get aware, companies will keep playing such more tricks and cheat you.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nIf you have any queries and suggestions for our blog, comment it below or mail us at [email protected]

World Consumer Rights Day special on Telecom by Team PlanDekho

15 March 2014.

\r\nHello Readers,\r\n\r\nHappy World Consumer Rights Day to you.\r\n\r\nIndia is second largest country in world in terms of Population, One of the leading economy and a developing country. Trade and Industrialization shown a massive growth in last decade. For those who don’t know, India is second largest country in terms of telecom user population. Things here changed like never before in last decade. In the same last 10 Years Telecom Industry grown magnificently in the country just like the rest of Globe. Various telecom companies emerged out with hope to serve millions of Customers in India, some are doing so while rest are lost somewhere in the population of 125 cr.\r\n\r\nTelecom is way of communication to long distance with technological means. But today our post will be limited to mobile telecom services of India. Altogether there are 12 fully active mobile service provider and many Boradband ISPs across India. There are more than 867 Million active customer of Wireless telecom service in India. Bharti Airtel is the leading telecom company with customer base of more than 188 Million.\r\n\r\nAirtel is though noted as best customer satisfaction providing company but list of complains raised be Airtel customer is also more than 1000 in a single day. Condition is similar with all the telecom companies in India including the only state owned telecom company BSNL. Below here we will discuss the problems of Telecom Consumers and the way to get their solutions from the telecom companies.\r\n

Major and Minor Problems to customers of all telecom companies in India

\r\nWrong Balance Deductions\r\n\r\nOne of the major problem discussed by customers of all the mobile companies in India. Wrong balance deductions are done in many forms like by cutting extra charge of your call. Sometimes customer complains the deductions of their main balance or Data without even use of the Internet.\r\n\r\nUnwanted VAS activation\r\n\r\nThis problem is faced by almost all the customers. Telecom companies activate services and offers on customer mobile number without any request by the customer. Mainly these services are of no use like SMS alerts of Sport news, health tips etc. Condition is even worse for the customers when the number is switched off and the balance is deducted from the same.\r\n\r\nWrong Recharge Amount\r\n\r\nThis field is improved much but still cursed a lot since it wipes away a big amount. Many times companies change the recharge tariffs without any prior notice to the customers and when the customer recharge with previous amount he gets nothing and loose the money also.\r\n\r\nWith clever tricks\r\n\r\nCompanies play many clever tricks. many times they fool customer and the customer is not even aware of it. One of the technique is STV activation through SMS or USSD. A STV amount displayed by company always include the VATs over it. When we made a top-Up we are charged the VAT also. But with the Top-up amount when we activate an STV we are again asked to pay amount with VAT. Hence custome have to pay tax Twice. But company pay it only once to government.  BSNL customers are lucky as they are not fooled like this.\r\n\r\nThere are many more tricks through which a customer get financial loss and hence lead ti mental and physical loss. Below are the few tricks which one should take if cheated any how.\r\n

Solutions one can look upon

\r\nFile a compliant \r\n\r\nAll the companies are giving toll free numbers to register a complaint. Ask customer care to solve the issue by explaining it the complete issue polity. If possible record the call.\r\n\r\nIn most of the cases your issue get solved, If not proceed to next step.\r\n\r\nAwake them on Twitter and Facebook\r\n\r\nIf your issue in not solved or you want other customer to know them your issue, post or tweet your issue to the company’s FB or Twitter handle. Your voice will be surely listened.\r\n\r\nStill in Problem? Proceed to further step.\r\n\r\nTake your issue to nearest Customer outlet\r\n\r\nIf your issue is not solved go to the nearest customer outlet of your telecom provider and tell them to solve the issue or you will take a legal action.\r\n\r\nNot satisfied yet!?! Dive in to next step.\r\n\r\nKnock the door of Consumer Redressal Commission\r\n\r\nIndian constitution is respectable. Constitution provide rights to customer to legally fight against frauds and unfair practices. Visit nearest Consumer court and file your complaint with all your docs. and evidences. This process is really easy and good. You will get proper justice.\r\n\r\nNot only India, the problem of cheats with consumer is existing every where. This is the reason why theme of this World Consumer Rights Day is “Fix our Phone” or “Fair Mobile Service” . We have to shout loud to stop such evil practices otherwise no company gonna improve.\r\n\r\nWorld Consumer Rights Day Plandekho\r\n

Dear PlanDekho reader,\r\n\r\nWe request you to always register a complaint of any cheats or wrong deductions by the Mobile service companies. No matter how small the amount is, if you are just charged with it unfairly its your right to fight back. We are always ready to help our customer in any possible manner. You can comment us below or mail your issue to [email protected] . We will be more than happy to help our readers.

Bharti Airtel Acquires Loop mobile completely

Recently it was predicted by our Telecom Analyst Gagan Choudhary in the linked article that Loop Mobile of Mumbai will soon go in other hands and that other hand hopefully gonna be of Airtel. The prediction turned true when Bharti Airtel officially announced today that they made a strategic agreement with Loop Mobile for their operations in Mumbai telecom circle.\r\n

Loop mobile merged with Airtel

\r\nWe notify our readers that Loop Mobile was only providing its services in Mumbai Telecom circle of India. It was having a customer base of 30 Lac plus in this one and only circle. Airtel was having some 4 Million customers in the same circle so know they both together will make a customer base of 7 Million and turn out as a unbeatable network in Mumbai.\r\n\r\nloop mobile merged with Airtel\r\n\r\nLoop Mobile need to do no worry as they will be automatically shifted to the network of Airtel soon. Customers can now enjoy all services of Airtel including a familiar network roaming in all the states of India.\r\n\r\nThe acquisition of Loop was expected as Loop didn’t participated in the recent Telecom auction. All their spectrum license were expiring in coming September. All the network band will be ceased then. But now due to this agreement customers need not to worry. They will enjoy more then ever.\r\n\r\n”India’s a leading global telecommunications services provider with operations in 20 countries across Asia and Africa, and Loop Mobile today announced a strategic agreement for their operations in Mumbai (India) service area,” said Bharti Airtel in its Press release.\r\n\r\nAccording to the sources deal was signed by loop for sum of 700 Cr. And now all the 2500+ antenna towers (cell sites) of 2G/EDGE network of Loop will be merged with 4000+ 2G and 3G cell sites of Airtel. In total of more than 6500+ cell sites in Mumbai itself it will be a great network with super strong network signal.\r\n\r\nAirtel is running its telecom operations in many countries of Asia and Africa and at present it is the 4th Telecom provider in world with customer base of approx 239 Million. They recently won around 115 MHz band blocks of both 1800 MHz and 900 MHz band spectrum in the auction.\r\n\r\nNo more announcement was made by Bharti Airtel related to future plans of Airtel mobile services.\r\n\r\nIf you have any queries related to any field of Telecom you can ask us in comment section below or mail it us at [email protected] .

\r\n \r\n\r\nLoop Mobile didn’t take part in Auction that mean they will soon sell out their mobile spectrum and customers to someone else. Its a bad news for the Loop lovers but they may enjoy even more if Loop will be picked up by a national player like Airtel. More over Tata Docomo also won zero band block so it is rumoring out in Market that they can sell over their all services to Vodafone.\r\n\r\nUninor won blocks for Assam which means now they will provide their service in Assam circle also.\r\n\r\nReliance Jio Infocomm made bid for 1800MHz only which somehow means that they have no plan to provide Voice services over the Bands they won.\r\n\r\nReliance Communications came out as low player they only won 0.6 MHz band of 1800 Mhz in Mumbai circle. No other Block came in their hand.\r\n\r\nA total cost of 61162.22 Cr will be paid by the telecom companies who won the spectrum.\r\n\r\nThough all the blocks of 900 MHz band was sold out but 20% of 1800 MHz band Blocks are still unsold, government yet to decide what to do with those Blocks. It is believed that Applications will be invited for such band Blocks and they will be sold out on Average cost of last successful bid.\r\n\r\nFactors like introduction of 4G, retention of licences and aggressive entry played a great role in price hike of Blocks. The result of price hike may be the increase in tariffs as company can earn profit mainly in two ways ie. by increasing customers or by increasing tariffs. Tariffs of Airtel and Vodafone are already on higher slot if they again hiked them it would be sad news for many of the users.\r\n\r\nIf you have any Query related to any field of Telecom sector comment it below or write us at [email protected]\r\n\r\n
