One of the giants in mobile and Internet in Mumbai, MTNL (Mahanagar Telecom Nigam Limited) recently announced all new 10 Mbps plans on VDSL (Very high bit rate Digital Subscriber Line) technology exclusively for the users for whom FTTH was not possible because of the coverage issues.
With this new technology, MTNL would be providing 10 Mbps downland and 5 Mbps upload plans to the users who stay in a radius of 1.5 kms from the telephone exchange.
The most basic plan, priced at Rs 990/month would include 25Gb of bundled data at 10 Mbps, after the bundled data is over, the speed will be reduced to 512Kbps with no FUP (Fair Usage Policy).
There are a few more plans which will be launched initially, plans costing Rs 1290, 1690 and Rs 2290 would include bundled data of 45GB, 75GB and 150GB respectively.
For those, who are not yet aware of the VDSL or VHDSL technology, this is a form of data transfer technology which supports very high bandwidth and it can accommodate to provide very high speed internet connection along with HDTV streaming at the same time. Along with these new plans, MTNL revised their existing VDSL plan which they had with a speed of whooping 20 Mbps. The plan was priced at Rs 4999 and the price remains the same. However, the bundled data has been increased to thrice as it was before and now the plan comes with 300GB embedded data compared to 100 GB before. Once the data limit has been crossed, users can continue to enjoy the same speed till unlimited usage at a rate of 10p/Mb . There is no speed downgrade for this particular plan.
